Martin J. Anisman was the tenth president of SHSU (1989-95).

Anisman earned degrees from Syracuse University (A.B., English Literature) and New York University (M.A., Ph.D.).

Anisman resigned from SHSU in 1995 to serve as the fourth president of Daemen College (Amherst, NY); he served in that role until 2011.
