DeWitte Holleman
After graduation he taught and administrated in the Victoria and Normangee school districts and then served the Sam Houston State administration for thirty-four years: first as Assistant Business Manager (alongside Ottie Barrett) (1939-1944); Business Manager (1944-63); and Comptroller (1963-73). He was president of the T Club in 1935 and a charter inductee into the Bearkat Hall of Honor in 1971. Holleman Field carries his name and the electronic sign at the corner of Bowers Boulevard and Bobby K. Marks Drive is dedicated to his memory.
