Ladykat Field

An aerial photograph from c. 1995 shows the solitary ROTC Rifle Range and the road leading out to the Horticulture Center; the softball field would be wedged into the grassy area between the two.

Ladykat Field (sometimes Bearkat Field) is located southwest of main campus on the west side of Avenue M. It served as the home ballpark for the SHSU women's softball team from 1997 to 2005. Structures associated with the ballpark include:

The SHSU softball program began in 1980 and has used various fields around Huntsville as their home, including:

In 1997 construction was completed on this 500-seat park south of Holleman Field and on land formerly used as the College Farm.

The final home game for the Bearkats was in 2005. The following spring the team began play in the Bearkat Softball Complex, located in the athletics complex east of main campus.
