About

The Powell Student Health and Counseling Center is located at the southwest corner of Bearkat Boulevard and Avenue J. It was constructed on the site of King Hall and is the successor to both the University Health Center and Counseling Center.

Initial plans were to expand the then-current health center building but these plans were changed with the King Hall demolition [1]. A combined health and counseling building was initially discussed in early 2012 with the Student Government Association voting in favor of the building that April [2]. In October 2012 students voted in favor of increasing the Medical Service Fee, paid by students as part of their semester tuition, to help fund construction [3].
