John Holcombe
John Wells Holcombe was a professor of political science from 1966 to 2008. He received degrees from the University of Texas at Austin (BA, 1963) and Claremont Graduate School (Ph.D., 1972). He was the acting chair of the political science department at the time of his death. Holcombe authored numerous articles on both the Texas and U.S. legislatures. He was the faculty advisor to the local chapter of the national political science honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha, and the Episcopal Canterbury Club. In 2010, the John W. Holcombe Room was dedicated in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Building as part of the Holcombe Speaker Series. In 2012 he was named a College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Wall of Honor recipient.
