Florence Elizabeth (Anderson) King came to SHSTC in 1944 as director of women's dormitories and, two years later, was named Dean of Women.

Her daughter, Elizabeth Yvonne King Beseda, was one of two women killed during the 1974 Huntsville Prison Siege.

King Hall was named in her honor.
