Joseph L. Pritchett
Joseph Lucien Pritchett was the brother of President Henry Pritchett. Pritchett and his wife, Lenora Melissa (Evans), moved to Huntsville in 1888, where "Professor Joe" would go to serve the college 42 years as a professor of Mathematics and Dean of Men. He owned much of the property west of the university, including the house he built in 1892, named Oak Grove, and the area that is now Pritchett Field. His residence, Oak Grove at 1322 Avenue O, remained in the Pritchett family until 1945 and was named a Texas Historic Landmark in 2001.
